71,000 pitched up at Rebellion Stadium to witness the visit of PAIN Corp with both teams coming off 2-2 draws in their first match. The Rebellion had achieved their third straight draw against the Bomb Squad while Pain had achieved the same against the Stealers. PAIN Corp's only victory to date was against the Rebellion in week 8 of 2005, the Rebellion franchise's last game as the Gadfathers.
The first half of the game looked like something of a walkover. The visitors literally rolled over their opponents, griding their way up the field almost unopposed. They were aided by their fans intervention to badly hurt referee Chirchire Treehugger, enabling them to engage their fouling operations without fear of official intervention. The Rebellion defence was not able to withstand the assault, and it was a fairly simple matter for Granite Sheetkicker to register his second score of the season with a mass of Pain players surrounding him. The Rebellion were unable to move the ball downfield in the remainder of the half, with replacement referee Fritz Stuckblitz coming on to help restore some order.
The second half was much closer. PAIN Corp had dominated the physical side of the game in the first period but the Rebellion struck back at the start of the second, knocking out Kazek "The Impolite" and injuring Granite Sheetkicker. However, they suffered a severe vengance from the Corp as Orc Blitzer Gha'rosh Bloodfist, the team's captain, lowered his head into Rebellion Lineman "The not-so-mighty" Doug. The Rebellion player attempted to level his opponent but as they clashed heads, it was Doug who fell to the ground. The team's medical staff were not able to intervene effectively and "The not-so-mighty" Doug died after being carted off the field.
Despite the loss, there was still a game to be won and the PAIN corp only just managed it. They stopped the Rebellion drive with a tackle from Taliona Raven on Larry "The Launcher" but from then on the ball just kept bouncing around with no real drive forward from either side. Had the Rebellion been able to prize it free, they may well have been able to equalise as most players were camped deep in Pain territory but it was not to be and PAIN Corp literally hung on for their second ever victory.
The death of "The not-so-mighty" Doug was the second of the season in the ADF North, following the death of Mark Boese in the other week two fixture.
Granite Sheetkicker has managed to amass over 100 career rushing yards as a result of action in the game. Leonora Snugglebum has reached the same landmark for blocking.
The Boxer Rebellion managed a mere 10 rushing yards in the game. PAIN Corp went through the game without a single dodge.
