The much anticipated rematch of the 2005 final took place at Puddle Dock between the unbeaten KoPite MuGaz and defending champions Revengers' Tragedy. The footing at the Dock was a little slippery due to a somewhat icy field but that was a minor distraction for a Mugaz side that had confidently despatched the Junior Wildmen in week five. The Tragedy had fully revenged themselves last week for their opening match loss with a win against the New England Patriot Missiles.
The Tragedy did not look at home on a foreign surface as the game got underway. The normally fluid passing combinations broke down in the initial drive despite the lynchpin of the defence, Mummy Mumraaah being stunned by a rock thrown from the stands. With a lack of cohesion in the attack, the Tragedy were forced into something of a scramble for possession and it was not a scramble that they were able to win once a second pass attempt turned into a fumble from Gutter Runner Kyle. Despite moving the ball quite far downfield, the visitors could do little to prevent a counter-attack go the length of the field, ultimately culminating in a touchdown for Norseman Oyvind Stravenger.
A riot brought the first half to an end, meaning that it was the Mugaz that received the kickoff subsequent to their score. Despite an initial tackle from Ogre Landok, the Mugaz were able to move the ball at pace with a long bomb from Wood Elf Lineman Edorath to High Elf Catcher Salogel Litefoot for the second score. The second half offence had not stopped there though, Skaven Thrower Tor found an open lain to mimic the throw of Edorath, with Kyle being the player making the catch in the endzone. More scuffles in the crowd held up the game and it looked as though the Tragedy were out of it but a remarkable defensive stand turned the tide in their favour. Dark Elf Thrower Arda camped deep in his own territory with Tragedy players converging and lacked the mobility to evade the tackles that came his way. He coughed up the ball at the feet of High Elf Blitzer Holden Webster whose quick pass to Penn allowed the Wood Elf to equalise and effectively end the game at two apiece.
Mumraaah has become the first player to rack up 300 career blocks. Kyle has reached the same number for rushing yards. Klein and Mumraaah are the first players in league history to reach 500 turns on the pitch. Igror Da Zkina has 100 knockdowns. Edorath has now exceeded 50 career dodges. Luke is now in double figures for Casualties.
