Pre-season ADA South favourites, Tabard Delight, welcomed the team they defeated in opening week, the 398 Legends with hopes still high after getting back to winning ways against Casus Belli. The Legends were reportedly very disappointed with their performance last time out against the Cornflakes, and harsh words were exchanged in their camp during the build-up.
The visitors certainly showed far greater spirit in the match and got off to a great start through High Elf Blitzer Gene Krupa who had been their first selection in the expansion Krush. Krupa showed some of the promise that the Legends had hoped to see when he took a bobbly pass after the home team had failed to secure possession, and turned it into an early virtuoso touchdown. The score had come despite the Delight penetrating the offensive formation and tackling the ball-handler, and the home team were forced to do similar to even up the score. This time though it was referee Hobnail Vainmouth who made the tackle. A struggle for possession was eventually concluded by High Elf Thrower Tristan Flyte with a dead-eye long bomb to the unmarked Lineman Rafael Rebelo who was able to bundle himself over the line.
A potential game-changing moment was averted by the Legends in the Delight scoring drive, Skaven Lineman Doku Stench put a great hit on Gene Krupa but he was able to shrug it off thanks to what appeared to be a blessing from the medical staff. Krupa was not able to make the same sort of play he had in the first half as he fumbled when hit by Doku Stench but he had advanced the ball far enough for Norse Lineman Ginger Baker to follow up and crash over the goal line. With so little time left in the half, Delight could not respond on the board but were able to pick up a casualty via the hitting of Beastman Zetec Drof.
The momentum did find itself firmly placed in the Legends hands after the break. Despite Gene Krupa falling at a crucial moment, he was still able to record another touchdown when Tristan Flyte threw into coverage and Amazon Linewoman Maureen Tucker came away with the ball. Norse Catcher Charlie Watts did not make the same mistake and made a decent enough throw into the end zone for Krupa's TD. Delight's play began to get desperate. Flyte forced another pass that did not come off, and the Legends punished him again, Lineman Keith Moon the beneficiary for the fourth score. A consolation from Lineman Filipe De Marco did not mask a bad day at the office for Tabard Delight.
Losing what was often an aerial battle really shakes things up in the ADA South. The first ever win for the Legends gives them some slim hope of getting to the post-season while Delight now have a battle on their hands for the remainder of the season. The Legends managed to rack up an incredible 67 yards on the ground, and an unbelievable total of 89 all-purpose yards.
