An incredible 32,000 fans were turned away from the gates of Legends Stadium for the visit of the Omaha Cornflakes. The capacity crowd turned out despite neither side being particularly impressive in their last outings as experienced sides the The Darkstalkers and Scarbringer Savages showed the difference between expansion sides and veterans with big wins.
The game began with both sides looking to stretch the field, the Cornflakes looking for early pressure from Fiat Panda the Wardancer but he was stopped by a failure to leap the Legends lines and the home team looked to assert the law of the other shoe and capitalise immediately. They were unable to do so, and in a frenetic period of pass attempts the ball eventually bobbled out into the Legends half and Cornflakes Thrower Anasteceya Beeverhausen was on hand to run it in for the opening score, as it turned out the only touchdown of the half. The fast paced and somewhat scrappy action was interrupted by a rock thrown from the crowd that caught Legends Norse Catcher Charlie Watts, injuring him.
The second half belonged to the visitors as they put a series of plays together to extend the lead. First, a spin move from Fiat Panda set the Wardancer free and he out-paced the defence for a rapid fire TD. The Legends did not even manage to lay a hand on the ball at the next kickoff before Panda was back. This time, he drew the home players towards himself and laid out a short pass for Lineman Tagliatelle al'arabbiatta who was unmarked and open for the third score. The Legends were finding themselves comprehensively outplayed but did achieve a consolation score at the death, High Elf Blitzer Gene Krupa manning up and bursting solo downfield. Krupa shook off attempted blitzes and dived over the line as the game came to an end.
The result leaves the 398 Legends fighting for their qualification life in the ADA South while the Cornflakes are serious contenders for that Conference's title going into the second half of the season.
