The semi final clash between the two ADA West teams ended with one of the great comebacks in league history. The match was the third between the sides in 2006 with a draw at Bring-a-Bed Stadium but a win for the top seeded Allstars in week 7. The Mugaz had come through to the semi finals the hard way having emerged from the Wildcard Round and Quarter Finals with wins over expansion conference champions Tabard Delight and the Hotspur Hacks.
The game appeared for long stretches to be heading the way of the Mugaz despite having Igror Da Zkina sent off at the opening kickoff and losing future hall of famer Arda early on. The first half was a brawl that the Wilcard side won. Injuring key players, they were able to out-fight their opponents and batter the defensive walls down. Salogel Litefoot was the beneficiary, scoring the opening touchdown midway through the half. The remainder of the first period was something of a write-off once Mass Invasion had left both sides without adequate personnel and the ball did not penetrate far in either direction with 2 Casualties inflicted on the Allstars.
The second half was as much of a grind as the first. The ADA West champion Allstars found the Mugaz defence as hard going as the offence had been. Unable to do a great deal of damage on the ground, it was the aerial route that gave hope. A long pass from Eiowol Talinne found Svetlana Domina in the endzone for the equalising score with less than half of the second period remaining. The odds seemed to be with the Mugaz, there was still enough time for the winning score and though both teams were without some quality players, there were enough playmakers left to deliver the drive. It was not to be though, the dramatic turnaround was completed by the Allstars by Domina who managed to sack Litefoot in the backfield and slip away for the second score and the win. Never before had a team been down with less than half of the second period remaining yet come away with the victory. The triumph saw the Allstars into the final for the first time, preventing the Mugaz from making their 3rd appearance in the championship game.
Kaneris N'Gillthrog, Jack Hour, and Aenarion Swift will all miss that final due to kidney damage, rotator cuff damage, and a pectoral pull respectively.
Salogel Litefoot recorded his 20th career tackle in the game, becoming the third player to reach that mark and topping the post-season tackle list with 7. Tom Flid Stood for the 50th time in his career.
