KoPite MuGaz 1-1 Scarbringer Savages

Week 4: 01/01/06

Needle between the Mugaz and Savages camps ahead of the clash at Puddle Dock meant that this was always going to be a spicy affair and the good form of both sides so far only heightened expectations. The Savages were comfortable victors over the Cornflakes in week three while the Mugaz played out a scoreless game against the Mutineers last time out. With bragging rights and the ADA West battle at stake, the match did not disappoint.

The game started with a real bang as Dark Elf Blitzer Sirius was so wound up that he struck out at Mugaz Mummy Mumraaah. The early blow was caught by referee Uriah Runner and Sirius was sent from the field as the opening kick-off took place. Sirius managed to take his man with him though thanks to a surprising weapon, a carelessly strewn banana skin. The number two all-time casualty inflictor slipped over the skin and was badly hurt enough not to be able to return for the remainder of the match.

With the action proper underway, the Savages set about pressing on with their high-voltage offence. Lobo La'Grange led the charge, the Human Catcher flanked by some of the imposing Savages support players. The protection wasn't tight enough to prevent Salogel Litefoot slipping through to put the hit on La'Grange but it was enough to stop Litefoot being able to gather the ball for himself and a recovery from La'Grange was enough to open the way for the first score of the game. It was the only score of the first half as a Mugaz attack floundered on the line of scrimmage and an attempt to rescue the situation only resulted in an interception by Rat Ogre Veh'nomm who extended a Magic Hand to pluck the ball from the air but was not able to rumble into scoring range before the whistle brought an end to the action. The teams traded injuries one apiece during the half, Lineman Ricky Battle of the Mugaz taking out opposite number "Steely-Eyed" Sam and Savages Barbarian Neffgar Golgoth injuring Troll Slayer Igror Da Zkina.

The second half turned the tables somewhat as the Savages were unable to halt an early Mugaz drive threw large numbers of players down their right hand flank leading eventually to Wood Elf Edorath's third score of the season. During the drive, Lineman Fookalite put an horrendous hit on Lobo La'Grange, injuring him severely. Despite not having their top scorer, the Savages hit back rapidly but only after favourable crowd intervention. Skaven Thrower "Fur" Tooth had moved the ball down the field but was caught by Edorath with a crushing blow that required medical attention for Tooth to remain in the game. Tooth's attempt to dump the ball off resulted in him only finding a spectator who in turn launched an absolute bomb that lay to rest in the Mugaz endzone. The race to grab it was won by Bull Centaur Morgrim Thunderfoot when he blitzed Salogel Litefoot out of the way.

The lead did not last for long, the Mugaz were back in again when Salogel Litefoot slipped alone past the Savages lines. A horrible attempt at trying to put a block on the High Elf by Bloodletter Vargash K'Narog failed badly allowing Litefoot to run it in for the equaliser. Though that was the end of the scoring, more pain was to come to the visitors. The home crowd invaded the pitch and managed to badly hurt Lineman Pete O'Stool but more significantly they trampled all over Goblin Roy, killing the former Fabienettes player.

"Fur" Tooth passed through career milestones of 300 rushing yards, and 100 passing yards during the game. Igror Da Zkina now has over 200 blocks in his career including those for the Darkstalkers franchise. Arda has exceeded the 50SPP mark in his career.

In a major blow for the Savages, Lobo La'Grange will miss the next three games with smashed collar bone that is also likely to reduce the player's toughness. "Steely-Eyed" Sam will miss the clash with the All-Stars with a fractured wrist. Roy will miss all future games due to being trampled to death.
