Another sell-out crowd at the criminally under-sized Savage Land stadium crammed in to see the best start to a season in Savages franchise history continue against the Omaha Cornflakes. The Cornflakes themselves have been out-performing expectations and secured a memorable victory over Tabard Delight last time out but an expansion side were always going to find it difficult against a team that managed a first win over the Junior Wildmen in their previous fixture.
The game was a fast and furious one with the Savages bursting into a two touchdown lead in the early going. The Flakes found that they had absolutely no answer to the lightning pace throughout the home side including Lobo La'Grange who ran home both the touchdowns. They did not have all the play their own way though as Cornflakes Ghoul Gillette SensorExcel Plus managed to get round the back of the Savages formation and hit Skaven Thrower "Fur" Tooth. The veteran all-pro player required medical attention to recover from the hit but was still able to dump the ball off to safety and the eventual second touchdown prior to the first half end.
The Cornflakes very nearly took advantage once Tooth was back on the field, clearly groggy. The Skaven threw his second interception of the season so far into the leaping arms of Wardancer Fiat Panda. Backed up by Treeman Honda Accord with a couple of Casualties, Panda very nearly made it to the end zone but a last ditch tackle from Bull Centaur Morgrim Thunderfoot caught the Wardancer by surprise as he was run down with merely yards to go. The hit was so brutal that the ball burst on impact and meaningful play was ended.
Indeed, there was no further meaningful play as a riot wiped out most of the rest of the game and the Savages had their second win of the season while the Cornflakes tasted defeat for the first time.
