The first ever match at Cornflakes Stadium saw the visit of Tabard Delight, the only ADA South team to have picked up a win during week one. The home Cornflakes came into the match off a draw against Casus Belli. The 59,000 fans were treated to a very good match that turned out to be something of a shock for the pre-season Conference favourite Delight.
The home side had clearly gotten their message across to referee Mill Slain prior to the game as he allowed them to field 12 player during the opening drive, and it was a decision that allowed the home side to take the driving seat throughout the first period. Mounting an initial attack down their right hand flank, the Cornflakes showed admirable adaptability by lateralling their way repeatedly out of trouble as the aggressive Delight defence moved in. As the blitzes rolled in, the Cornflakes were finally deprived of the ball but it was not for long as the Delight counter-attack floundered on a fumbled hand-off. Needing no further opportunity, the Cornflakes punished the visitors with Fiat Panda who opened the scoring as time expired to end the first half.
The second half was somewhat unusual in that both the opening drive, and the subsequent reposte were thwarted by interceptions. High Elf Thrower Tristan Flyte threw into the outstretched arms of Zombie BBC Four but the favour was returned by Tagliatelle al'arabbiatta who turned the ball over to Rafael Rebelo. While Rebelo didn't last long thanks to a blitz from gigantic Treeman Honda Accord, Delight did turn the interception into a touchdown through Cederic Meresmo. Most neutral observers would have felt that further scoring in the game was unlikely but they would have failed to account for an early contender for touchdown of the season. With the ball in their own territory, Anasteceya Beeverhausen completed a long pass to al'arabbiatta who slipped through the tackle zones of five defenders to squirm his way over the line and an unlikely score to win the game for the Cornflakes, their first ever victory and the first ever loss for Delight.
Honda Accord of the Cornflakes pushed himself into league-wide recognition with three Casualties from ten successful blocks off ten attempts during the game.
