Junior Wildmen 0-1 Tabard Delight

The struggling Wildmen played host to their second home match of the season at Stadium Lard with expansion side Tabard Delight the visitors. Delight were the pre-season favourites in the ADA South but suffered a surprise defeat last week against the Omaha Cornflakes. The Wildmen themselves did well to lose only narrowly to the Savages but that is traditionally a fixture that the Wildmen do well in.

The light drizzle got steadily heavier but that did not fully explain why the Wildmen's famous Zerg tactic failed to gain traction early on. The legendary Speedy McSpeedy could not keep hold of the ball, and neither could Catcher Mr Cock Knocker as Delight blitzes thundered in through gaps in the formation. Rafael Rebelo was the tackler both times, and the hit on Knocker was so devastating that he required medical attention for the remainder of the game. Still, Speedy is a difference maker and he very nearly turned the drive around until caught in the open field by Beastman Zetec Drof. A sudden deluge caused despair in the offensive ranks and they were unable to punch the ball home before the whistle to end the first half.

The home team did prove a stern test for the expansion Delight as an early blitz disrupted the attacking line-up and the line of scrimmage was clearly favouring the Wildmen as they out-casualtied their opponents by 3-1 up front. Despite this, Delight were able to get runners into Wildmen territory and though a trick play failed to materialise, High Elf Thrower Tristan Flyte found his target in Goblin Noberly Prescott who took the ball home for his first ever touchdown. The score was the winning one.

Treeman Woody Wildman recorded his 10th career casualty during the match.
