The worst team in the league during 2006 made their bow in the the 2007 competition, eager to improve with top Krush pick Ed expanding their ranks. Team Stupidity fared somewhat better featuring a savage blocking game last season. Stupidity won both clashes last season including a 1-0 victory at Panthers Stadium.
Stupidity received the opening kickoff and looked to grind their way straight through opposition bodies. The slow and steady approach was backed up by blocking at all points all across the field. Though the injury count was not great, it did have the effect of driving the Panthers backwards until the pack separated and Stumpy "Short Legs" McGee made a dart for the end zone. He was unsuccessful thanks to a trailing leg that tripped him and coughed the ball up. The Panthers capitalised despite an errant throw with the rock lobbed into Stupidity territory from where Rob "Bitch" Lanc was able to run it in for the opening score. In all that excitement some may have missed the Panthers coaching staff using some kind of Scroll to heal Ed following what appeared to be a particularly nasty foul.
The second half opened with a rapidity that has never previously been seen by players in Panthers uniforms. The home side completed an audacious pass and move routine that saw "The" Brain set Gaius Balthar free for a second score - only the second time that the Panthers had ever registered two in a game following a 2-2 draw with the Punchers last year. The remainder of the game was pretty much a repeat of the first half. A hideous number of blocks were not enough to give Stumpy McGee space and he was eventually turned over. "The Cigarette Smoking" Man was the beneficiary, putting it in for a third score and the biggest win in Panthers history making a clear statement of intent following their struggles in 2006. Stupidity may have been well beaten but they can take consolation in the sickening number of blocks the team threw.
