The match between the two sides with opening week wins in the ADF East met at the Hacks Stadium where the visiting Punchers were coming off a big away win at the Panthers. The Hacks themselves looked impressive against Team Stupidity so with tough cross-conference matches coming up for all expansion sides, a win for either side would be a massive stride in the Conference race.
The match was a brutal and very high scoring affair, becoming the highest scoring match of the season to date. It was also only the fourth time a team had produced 5 Touchdowns in a game, following the Wildmen, Mutineers, and Stealers. The match opened with crowd violence as the Hacks supporters invaded the pitch with devastating effect for the Skaven Gutter Runner Yussef. It was only towards the very end of the match that Yussef was able to be removed from the critical list, and even then it took multiple teams of medical practitioners to rescue him. Despite the invasion, the Panthers troubled the scorer first thanks to a touchdown off a turnover when Sparrow Keane the High Elf Lineman coughed up the ball for Dave "The Paedo" an off-season acquisition from the Fabienettes via the Tragedy to score his first ever touchdown. As quickly as the first was scored, the second followed. This time it was Hacks Catcher Scoop Sopwith.
Still the rapid-fire scoring was not complete and a frantic scrabble began for record books once the visitors Amazon Linewoman Wonin Nine crossed the goal line with still a quarter of the first period left. That too was returned by the Hacks through Robby Wyman the Gnoll as both sides appeared unable to prevent the opposition from crossing their lines seemingly at will. In the maelstrom though, while all were caught up in the fevered scoring frenzy something more physical unfolded on the line of scrimmage. Veteran players are fully aware that their presence is a target for rookies looking to make a name for themselves, and this was clearly the case with Lineman Face King who had singled out Buckminster. The Punchers man is the only player to have turned out for three different sides and was a champion in 2003 with the KoPite MuGaz but all that experience counted for nothing against Face King's vicious head high strike. Buckminster never recovered and his career will be remembered in the Shrine.
Without the veteran to shore them up, the Punchers fell apart in the second half. Handling and footing errors abounded. The Hacks ran in three more touchdowns unanswered during the second period through Paxman, Robby Wyman, and Scoop Sopwith. The home side were clinical in their finishing and have announced themselves as genuine contenders for the ADF East title and potentially more.
