2006 semi finalists, PAIN Corp took on 2006 quarter finalists for their first clash in the 2007 ADF North season. Pain had been comfortable 3-1 winners in the fixture last season and this one sees some turbulance for the Bomb Squad franchise who are expected to be without head coach Moonglum for the entire year.
The game turned out to be a bit of a bloodbath though the opening was a passage of passing interplay for the home side. Howie Zarr found an open Birgette in the visitors backfield, allowing the first round Krush pick to run the ball home easily. A slow, grinding Pain response was led by Granite Sheetkicker due to the absence of star player Taliona Raven for the drive with what was euphemistically described as a stomach upset. Despite the Witch Elf's lack of activity, the Corp were able to punch home the score to equalise before the break though did see Leonora Snugglebum taken out of the game with a facial injury..
The second half was a brawl. There was little pretence at anything other with the two teams standing toe-to-toe. In the middle of the fracas, Dobbin Ruud the 2006 2nd round pick was leapt upon by Tiny. The clash of the Rat Ogre and Outlaw was one-sided and by the time Tiny had gotten up, Ruud was dead. Despite the loss and a horrible fall by Sheetkicker, the Corp continued to power onwards and were eventually rewarded with the score for the recovered Taliona Raven.
Seef-Orr will miss the week 2 matchup against the Boxer Rebellion with achilles damage.
Leonora Snugglebum has now knocked down 100 opponents in his career. Casius Slay has become only the third player to launch 20 career fouls.
