The tiny Savage Land stadium paid host to just 38,000 supporters with 5,000 more being turned away at the gates with the No Talent All-Stars in town. These two have had many classic matches in the past and both will be looking for an improvement on last season's performance. The All-Stars scraped into the post-season, becoming the first team to finished third in their Conference and yet still qualify but they were defeated heavily by the New England Patriot Missiles. The Savages stretched their barren post-season run to three seasons, they have still never made it to the showcase games but some pundits are once again tipping that this will be the Year of the Beej.
By the time the match had finished, it was being described as one of the great games of Blood Bowl. It opened with the All-Stars receiving the kick-off but the were soon down a player with franchise leading passer Thaleus Thunderarm being injured by Bull Centaur Morgrim Thunderfoot. The All-Stars were further setback by a series of handling errors from ordinarily very sure-handed players. The fumbles coughed up the ball for "Fur" Tooth, the player with the all-time leading pass attempts. Tooth lobbed out a short pass to Morgim Thunderfoot and the Centaur ran it in for the score. It didn't take long for an All-Stars counter, Kaneris N'Gillthrog recorded the 12th casualty of his career by injuring Bezerker Neffgar Golgoth. Following through on the gap, Aenarion Swift took advantage to run it in for the score. The remainder of the half saw no further scoring action but did see a pitch invasion and two more Casualties against the All-Stars.
The second half began just as the first had begun, with a couple of Casualties. The players involved both times were Rat Ogre The Claw and top Krush pick Vargash K'Narog but they were let down by a mis-placed pass from "Fur" Tooth. The turnover was capitalised on with aplomb thanks to Orc Lineman Grak Hedsplitta with a 10 yard bomb, the first completion of his career for Svetlana Domina to score and take the lead. The All-Stars were running out of players though especially once Kirk Angel was sent off for a record fifth time in his career. Down to 8 men, the All-Stars could not hold the home side out of the endzone and it was Veh'nomm who powered through for his second ever score. The Savages carried on the barrage through The Claw who ran in a short one after new player Eiowol Talinne had fumbled.
It looked gloomy for the visitors but they were able to pull it out of the bag at the last minute. Eiowol Talinne was the player who slipped the aggressive Savages front and managed to run it in for a last minute score to end the game at 3-3 and round up a game that was enjoyed thoroughly by players, referees, and spectators.
New player Thor Graveman missed the game with a broken foot, an inauspicious start to his career.
During the game, Svetlana Domina moved through the 300 rushing yard mark in her career, the 7th player to 300. Kaneris N'Gillthrog is the 4th player to 200 Blocks. S'lip D'isc of the Savages is the second player from that franchise to reach 100 Blocks. Vile Rotgut has now stood up 50 times in his career, the second player to reach that landmark.
