The History of The .:1337:.FLATliners[men]
- 1820: Carabale Xelf, The Flash Bang Necromancer of whom it was said by the ranger Rashti that "He summoned Undead with a flash and a bang" finds himself short of the money he needs to further his numerous studies and experiments. Carbale Xelf, a renowned mathematician, was said to have spoken in symbols and numbers which may have explained his difficulty with sales. To help raise funds, Carbale cashed in on the niche market for Blood Bowl by raising teams of Skeletons to battle each other time and again.
- 1835: An economic depression seems to leave Carbale Xelf untouched. The low running costs for his Blood Bowl venture meant that even though popular support for the game was still small, it is still enough to expand and set up a pitch at the outpost town of Linkor Phen.
- 1850: Linkor Phen's viability ends when the last of the trading families leave for warmer climes. The Skeleton teams have no audience to play to and the constant summoning slowly drains the lifeforce away from Xelf. He expires within five years and a tomb is erected with the best view in the house. Distant collegues and admirers gather to help build an enormous crypt around the pitch but with nobody passing through the abandoned town, Carbale Xelf is soon forgotten.
- 1998: Activity returns to Linkor Phen following claims of an oil find and the crypt of Carbale Xelf is re-discovered. The tundra conditions have preserved much of what was built by the Necromancer and a steering group is set up to to assess the potential for Blood Bowl to return to a once legendary arena. The advent of cabalvision means the games can be projected beyond the limited locale and the financial viability of the project is confirmed.
- 2000: As with all new ventures, a charismatic leader is needed. One is not found so the steering group turns to unproven coach alexelf. While there are no great successes in the early going, rumours are rife that alexelf is following his ancestor Carbale Xelf into the family business. alexelf remains quiet on the subject but interest grows.
- 2003: Interest in alexelf and the unusually named .:1337:.FLATliners[men] has grown to such an extent that an application to join the AD Blood Bowl league as an expansion team is warmly received. Seeing profit signs thanks to the unique history, the League Commissioner admits the team into the league without once having seen them play.
